​

I am from the teddy bears, from the snow globe and a Nicaragua backpack 

I am from my safe warm cozy house

I am from the rose bushes, lucky and lanna

 

I am from the round filled tamales and the mountain of colorful Puerco con yucca and the mixture mount mix of rice and beans and mom’s secret ingredient for Gallo Pinto

I am from family Friday and prayer in the mornings, from Reyes, and Gabriela, and Dennis

 

I am from the black hair and the sunny summer sweat gardening

From the “if you don’t pass the grade I will kill you” and “study so you don’t have to work like a donkey like me”

I am from praying at four in the morning 

I am from Jacksonville, Florida, Honduras, and Nicaragua and Sopa de Marisco con Coco

 

From the pure breed German Shepard, my dad who came from Honduras, met my mother married and moved to Georgia and grandpa who hurt grandma and was burned with a hot iron

 

I am from reading the Bible, fasting, and going to a Pentecostal church five days a week I am from an animal lover, family lover and god lover
